But with the advent of computer technology, add to this the fact that the Internet has brought forth dramatic changes, all of these and more have certainly pushed human capital management, or HCM, to change its landscape.

Because there are just so many tools of technology that have been brought forth in the market, the leaders of Human Resource Departments now feel the need to change the methods that they use in recruiting and training the people in their employ. If you think about it, the term human resources, which refers to human capital, no longer refers to just the physical aspect of the employee. With employees widely spread, it becomes quite difficult for the people responsible for human capital management to do their jobs effectively. The mere activity of assessing the productivity of employees becomes very daunting. There is then the need to incorporate electronic metrics that can be used to check on the productivity of all members of the workforce across the globe. Adequate HCM then becomes more achievable and way easier for any enterprise.
