Implementing Balanced Scorecard Main Presentation
After the company has got through with the process of building the balanced
scorecard the next and most crucial step is to implement the scorecard into the
business processes. The process of implementing a balanced scorecard in the
company should be handled as a separate management function and should not be
overshadowed by other activities. The whole process should be planned and
implemented in detailed manner and proper procedures should be drawn out
beforehand. This step actually facilitates the management to clarify their
vision and strategy and transform it into actions of the company.
The benefits of a Balanced Scorecard can only be achieved when it is fully
embedded in the normal working procedures of the company and when it is linked
with every important aspect of it. The process starts taking into consideration
the vision and strategy of the company and making a consensus between them. This
calls for developing relevant KPIs and measures which is covered in the Balanced
Scorecard building process. Then the technical implementation of the scorecard
comes into picture, which also includes the technical feasibility of the
balanced scorecard.
Matching out the requirements for implementing BSC like appropriate software,
training of employees authorized to handle the BSC, etc. are carried out under
this step. The next step involves organizational integration and technical
integration, which include integrating the BSC with the different organizational
processes and the operational systems like CRM, ERP etc. The operation step of
the implementation process, calls for updating the targets, analysis of results,
and reporting on a regular basis.
