Robert Inc. is a Kansas based organization that manufactures a variety of electrical appliances such as washing machines, mobile phones, air conditioners, refrigerators. The divisions responsible for producing these are in different locations, both near and far away from the headquarters. The organization follows a centralized communication pattern and the structure is function based.

The top-level management was happy of the several business awards that the CEO’s cabin boasted of. The revenues and sales brought in from various units were good enough to keep the company running.

However, this joy started vanishing when they sensed a loss in the competitive position of the company. The instances of awards going into opponents’ laps increased and the number of clients who always placed their orders with Robert Inc. since long, started dwindling. Employee morale too was found to be diluting. These series of events got top-level management anxious of the situation and they started spending sleepless nights.
